Windows 10: minecraft multiplayer.

Hi, I have just bought minecraft java edition on my windows 10 laptop, but when I go into the app, it lets me play single player but not multiplayer, when I hover over the multiplayer option it just says 'check your microsoft account settings'. I have tried to search on many websites for an answer to my problem, but none of them are helping.

I do not have the Xbox family app, so I was just wondering if there is a way I can enable this feature without too much hastle.

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry to hear that you can't do multiplayer with your friends. But pretty sure, we suggest to contact first the developer of the application or reach out to their forums. Because this is already more on the
application itself. For sure, they can provide correct details on this.

I log onto Minecraft pocket edition on my kindle Fire 80 HD tablet and it says It says I can't play multiplayer because of how my Microsoft account is set up. Where are the settings to change this and what do I need to do?
