Windows 10: Minecraft windows 10 edition "unlock full game" after redeeming code

Since I have the minecraft java edition, I was going to use this to redeem a code for minecraft windows 10 edition from the mojang website. I redeem the code and install the game but I cant play with friends or change most setting while setting up a game. I then saw an option to "unlock full game", so I click on that but I have to re enter the code to redeem it. Of course I already used the code to install the game before, so it just tells me "this code has already been redeemed" and there is no way for me to play the full game. Also, in a previous attempt to fix this, I uninstalled the minecraft windows 10 edition and now I cant access it in any way now since it is uninstalled and the code appears not to have worked properly.
