Windows 10: missing dll for EpicInstaller-10.5.4.msi

Hello and thanks for looking at this question.


A few weeks ago I reinstalled Windows 10 on my computer using settings > Recovery > Reset this PC. Then let all the Windows 10 updates auto install.


I later tried to reinstall the game launcher from EpicGames.com (after reinstalling BitDefender security software, Microsoft Office and a handful of other applications without issue, including steam's games launcher). Before my reset I had the launcher running without errors.


I downloaded their launcher installer application ( EpicInstaller-10.5.4.msi ) direct from EpicGames.com


When I run the application, I get an error message:

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

The installer then shuts down after a popup confirming no changes have been made to my system.


I contacted epicgames support with the above info and supplied my system's DxDiag and MSInfo Report (they also asked for a launcher log and a game log but since I couldn't install the launcher at all I couldn't give them either).


Epicgames support advised"

"it could be an issue with your Microsoft Windows, I really recommend you to contact them, they will help you to check if your plugins and DLL are updated!"

No hints as to *which* dll or plugins might be required.


After trawling through the automated get help wizard's recommended articles I checked Services.msc shows the Windows Installer service running. I stopped and restarted it anyway. It is set to manual.


I got to the end of the automated suggestions and contacted someone on the support messenger but misclicked and lost the conversation part way through. Rather than risk that again, here I am.

Missing .dll file .

Hi,

I suggest that you perform the steps below and check if it helps resolve the issue.

• Uninstall all those apps (using revo uninstaller) which are giving you msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll files missing error
• Open the link below

Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 from Official Microsoft Download Center

And download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.

3. Download VSU_4\vcredist_x64.exe if you’ll be installing this on Windows 10 64bit.

4. Download VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe if you’ll be installing this on Windows 10 32bit.

DLL Missing

I actually posted the link for the "list of troubleshooting steps to resolve your boost_threads.dll problems" which is located half way down the page. I did not mean to promote any downloads.

Why don't I just go back and indicate that on my original post? That way there's access to the 'step-by-step' instructions, which are accessed via those green 'plus' signs next to the topics.

If the link still needs to be removed, then let me know

 

DLL Missing

The problem is, that the required DLL is not actually even listed there.
There are just dozens of download adware links from the top to the bottom.
