help missing disk space

ok guys thanks, I guess its my internet then and not the link, internets been buggy all weekend going in and out.

it was recommended to be 12gb but I had it set to 8gb virtual memory set for all drives so I reset it to 2gb like you suggested but im missing 150gb so a handful of gb here and there isn't solving this thing but I do appreciate the help and it is doing good to fix these settings

not sure how much is there because its a new install but it says it was 50% of disk space (225gb) so maybe that was it. I set it to only use 25% so its limited to 113gb now, I figure that should help.

im still not comfortable turning system restore off completely though as someone else had suggested I do.

update: resetting restore to 25% gave me an extra 100gb of disk space available so now im up to 259gb free space available.

windows 7 requires 20 GB (64-bit) available hard disk space, yet im seeing 200gb of disk space used so what the hell is going on? this is a new install so its not full of leftover crap or old data. I have 50gb of data I added and 3gb of games on it plus windows and it says its using 216gb of space just for that stuff.

I cant find the hiberfile, win 7 is different then win 8 so the pathway isn't the same so i google it and found it said nothing but how to turn it off and I already do have sleep and hibernate features turned off so maybe that's all I needed to do.

question - I don't know how big a system restore file is but how big should the system restore be allowed? 10%, 15%, more? being set at default as half the disk size seams excessive

also I ran the system tree info and this is the report:

c drive - size 465.5 gb / used 216.4 gb

system volume info - 112.6 gb <<<<<< this appears to be the issue but what is it

Storage Space

Surface Pro 3 storage space is low. Storage settings say that Apps and Games is using 17.5 GB but when I add up the space from the list of apps it is only 5.7 GB. What is taking up up the other ~12 GB and how do I free up space?

300+ gb of free space missing !

thanks for your answer . you were right, windows was reading 372 gb instead of 634 on my games folder, which has about ten 50+ gb subfolders . guess i`ve found my missing space . thanks again .
