Windows 10: Missing Free Space in Status bar Network & Local Drives after AU

Used to be, when I highlight/select a disk in This PC or Network, the status bar at the bottom of the window would show Free Space (and I think total space) on that disk.

After AU, all it says in the status bar is "X items 1 item selected". AND on Network drives, if I right click > properties > Size is ZERO bytes *Mad So now I can't even check the disk space left on my network drives unless I remote into that machine! sucks

Cannot install Windows 10 AU due to less disk space

Hi Matt,

As per the query, I would like to inform that you will not be able to install Windows 10 AU on the external drive. This is so, as the base Windows 10, is required for the installation of the AU to be completed successfully. Having stated so, I suggest that
you refer to the article, How to free up disk space in Windows
and check if you will be able to install Windows 10 AU after the procedure completes.

KB3189866 Network Drives Problem

Windows 10 AU was installed automatically the day after it went GA. Until this fix I had updates set to d/l & install automatically. As WinUpdt wants to constantly reinstall this patch I turned WinUpdt to d/l but NOT update and will not turn it back
on until the Network Drive issue is fixed. Puzzled on the question on Win10 AU. KB3189866 is not AU.

 

SOLVED: Had to re-enable Classic Shell options in IE 11.
