Windows 10: Missing Network Adapter after Updating WIndows 10 - ASUS Laptop X407MA

Hello,


i've been using my laptop fine for a day, when i update the windows. The next time i open the laptop, it can't connect to wifi. I checked Device Manager and the network adapter is missing.

These are what i've tried:​

1. Troubleshoot Network
2. Downloading network adapter driver from Asus website, but it's in zip file (not an .exe) so i can not install it
3. Searching around for .exe file but didnt find any.
4. System Reset
5. Network Reset
6. System Reset from BIOS

Nothing works.


Would somebody help me?

Method 1. Run Network adaptor trouble shooter

You may try Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services as a first step to diagnose and repair common Network issues.

To run the trouble shooter follow the steps given below

• Press Windows key+ X key, Select Control Panel.
• Click on Troubleshooting, Click View All.
• Click Network Adaptor and follow the instructions

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the network adaptors from manufacturer website.

Drivers may show an updated status but it’s recommended to download all the drivers for Windows 10 from the manufacturer.

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

1. On the search bar type “Device Manager.”

2. On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it.

3. Right on the “Network Adapter” option and click “Uninstall’.

4. Download the latest Network adapter driver setup file from the
manufacturer’s website and install it.

Windows 10 Network Adapter for Asus Taichi 31 not there

Upgraded to windows 10 a while ago now, but recently my laptop (Asus Taichi 31) stopped connecting to wifi with the error message:

Install a driver for your network adapter - windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter you will need to re-install the driver.

I tried downloading a network driver but it hasn't worked and I don't want to risk getting viruses by downloading heaps of stuff from random websites. My ethernet cord still works fine its just the wifi so any suggestions on what to do?
