    Missing permission settings in windows 10 registry


    after a recent update, security permission settings are missing from being able to invoke specific sercurity settings on users for registry keys in windows 10
    Missing security settings:
    Modify
    Execute
    Write
    Read & Execute

    The only permissions available are:
    Fullcontrol
    Read

    How do I get the 4 missing security options back in the user security permissions?

    Windows 10 permissions...

    Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

    Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

    Windows 10 permissions...

    How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

    Any way to edit the registry without loading Windows?

    You will need to find a way to grant yourself permissions for full control of that hive/key.
    Just as the "Trusted Installer" has.
    You may have to log on as admin to do this.

    And, a search to start you on your quest.

    I did it a long time ago, to get rid of & edit some hives, keys, etc.
