Windows 10: MMC : An Administrator has blocked you from running app

Recently, out of the blue, I got an error message about "snap in" but I didn't get to read it properly before closing it by accident.


After that, I can't seem to start things like Device Manager or Task scheduler please see attached image below.



However, if I start a CMD with administrator rights, I can open up Device Manager from the CMD prompt.


I've tried many suggestions I found online and non seems to work.


I've tried the following

1. Setting user to Standard User and then back to Administrator

2. [COLOR=rgba255, 255, 255, 1]net user administrator /active:yes[/COLOR]

3. I checked the Local Device Policy, Enable, Disable or Unconfigured have no effect.

I am trying out this 'getprivate' software and it installed correctly. When it run for first time it has no problem. when I close the windows, next time I launch it, it won't open, a window pop up, 'an administrator has blocked your from this app.

I did some research on web about this error. I tried turned off user control, change user type from administrator to limited. still doing the same.



any suggestions??

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the following:

• Right-click on Start menu.
• Select Command Prompt (Admin) and type: net user administrator /active:yes.
• Press Enter.

Doing the steps above will activate your user as the administrator of the computer. Once done, kindly check if you will still experience the same issue.

UAC prompt for Task Manager. MMC blocked. What happened?

It's possible that Computer Management is being blocked by SmartScreen. We suggest disabling it and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

1. Click the Start button.
2. Type smartscreen in the search bar.
3. Click Change SmartScreen settings.
4. Click the drop-down arrow in the Security row.
5. Click Change settings beneath the WindowsSmartScreen row.
6. Click Don't do anything (turn off Windows SmartScreen).
7. Click OK.
