    Monitor/display will not turn off

Not intending to hijack this thread but I also have the same issue as has already been well documented here.

I first discovered my problem not from the power setting issue but because my screensaver was not running. I like to run that with a photos slideshow. I found that none of the other Windows 10 screensaver options would work either. Mind you they did work on the 'Preview' button on the settings page and also when in Safe Mode.
Tied in with that is also the Power and Sleep settings issue that is being discussed here. I also find that none of the settings and options in the Power Settings have any effect whatsoever. Everything just keeps going on forever.
As suggested earlier on this thread I did try disconnecting all USB connected devices, a scanner and an external backup drive, but that made no difference to the situation.

I had been hoping that with the various updates hat have been coming in over the past few weeks that maybe something might change but nothing has.

I'd welcome any suggestions that might be forthcoming.

There might be other parts in your PC that prevent your system to think that there is no activity
in the power settings you can un-check those as being monitored

I haven't seen anywhere that you un-check individual parts, only monitor or hard disk. Am I missing something somewhere?

I'll check out that MajorGeeks program 'Iveehbee' - It was all working OK right up to the upgrade mind you, so I do think it's something to do with Windows 10 talking to my hardware.

The more posts I read... the more convinced I get that I indeed will roll back to Win7 on my Office PC
The laptop came with the disaster called Win8, so.... with some maintenance and some Registry Changes, Win10 might actually be a notch better than Win(drama)8

The number of security issues mentioned in so many threads and all the other threads about things no longer working make me more and more convinced to roll back to Win7 *Smile

I don't think I would go that far 'Harpert'. I was coming from W8 but I was using it with Start8 so it was quite painless. Everything was working on my W8, but I have to say I do like W10. I was running the Preview editions on a cheep tablet for quite awhile and I was very happy with it. No; I wouldn't go back.

Looking at the command line structure on DestroyWindowsSpying I don't think I'd have the courage to risk any of it. I don't want to find that I made a not really serious situation in to a very bad one.

I have tried Destroy Windows Spying with no luck.

    Any other suggestions ?

  9. ShutUp10 is excellent but I doubt it'll help you in this particular issue, which is most likely driver-related. Have you tried Safe Mode? If it works there, it's almost certainly a driver issue.

Yes all works well in Safe Mode. Shutting down all start-ups has no effect though.

  11. For everyone with this issue: open your Device Manager, expand all nodes then post a screenshot here if you can't find a solution. You need to look for drivers, likely USB ones then disable them.

This is a .doc of my entire expanded list. Not sure if there was a better way to show this. Thanks AmigaRoots for giving this your time.

No problem, you have a lot of USB stuff. Try disabling via the Device Manager (not disconnecting) the USB devices under Disk Drives, the USB devices under Human... (if it's a vital keyboard/mouse device don't disable it, just check its power management features), the Lenovo camera, the portable devices and the Lenovo USB audio (start with the Human Interface devices). Use ScreenOff as a quick test, if it's now unable to turn the monitor off, but works after you disable a driver/device, you've found the cause.

Thanks for that. In reality; a number of those listed items were just temporary and are unlikely to be connected ever again. I won't be able to get at that until tomorrow, but I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
