    Monitor display

I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Everything works fine, except that the Samsung monitor connected to the Dell laptop does not display the entire laptop screen date and time not visible. It's as if the display moved slightly to the right but there is no black area on the left-hand side of the screen. I checked for Windows updates and additional updates, tried changing the scale and resolution, downloaded the monitor driver from Samsung's website and uninstalled/reinstalled via Device Manager. Nothing helps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    monitor display size

    Hi Kathy,

This issue with monitor display can be caused by screen resolution problems.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try changing the screen resolution by following the steps below:

    • Right-click on the desktop screen.
    • Select Display settings.
    • Click Display.
    • Under Resolution, click on the drop-down menu and change the screen resolution.

Note: You can select the most recommended resolution (1920 x 1080) if applicable and see if the issue will persist.

Let us know if you have any other concerns.

    External monitor display settings

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with the display scaling on your external displays. We will certainly look into this for you.

As you are using Vizio TV, you may have to try using custom resolution settings if the in-built settings do not provide the required settings.

For better clarity, please let us know:

    • What is the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on your computer? You can click on Search and type
      winver.
    • Are you aware of any recent changes to the system, such as updates, after which you are facing this issue?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to check the steps mentioned in the Workaround section in

Windows scaling issues for high-DPI devices

I would also suggest you to check the Display drivers. Please refer

Let us know how it goes.
