Monitor won't sleep, screensaver won't come on

New PC build: 8700k, Z370 board, GTX 1080 Ti, Win 10 Home, all latest drivers and BIOS updates

The monitor won't enter sleep mode and the screen saver won't come on either.
Have tried resetting Power Options to default. Unplugged all USB devices.

Does anyone have any ideas what the reason might be and what I could try?

    :)

  2. PC won't go to sleep mode after Upgrading SSD to Windows 10

Old title: Windows 10 / SSD won't idle

    Hello,

Ever since I upgraded to an SSD with Windows 8, my computer wouldn't go to sleep on its own. Now with Windows 10, the computer won't even idle, go to screensaver mode, lock itself, or sleep either.

I tried reverting my power options to defaults, but it didn't help. I have turn off the monitor after 30 minutes, which doesn't work, and sleep after 45 minutes, and that doesn't work either.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

  3. HP Pavilion 1907 w monitor won't wake after sleep.

Windows 10 HP Pavilion 1907 W monitor won't wake after sleep. Have to pull power cord to get it back. Power button on monitor does nothing. Sleep key puts PC to sleep but when it comes back the monitor doesn't. Worked fine before converting to Win 10.

    Was on Win 8.

  4. Monitor won't sleep, screensaver won't come on

    Hi naujoks

Might help others if they understood what make is motherboard?

I see you have K model CPU. Are you overclocking or have you modified any BIOS settings? If you run no overclock with default settings does it sleep.

Does your board support Aura lighting and do you have software adding extra light? (As well do you have software to control PSU or AIO pump?) Thinking one of these may be causing. Actually to eliminate all third party software you could try clean boot.

Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

Is it safe to assume if monitor won't shut off and screen saver will not engage that the system does not sleep? (Or does system sleep, just not the monitor)

    Thank you for your replies!
The board is a Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 board and does indeed have LED lights on it. No software to control PSU or pump though. The CPU is not overclocked, the memory is running at 3000MHz though.
The PC itself goes to sleep just fine, it's just the monitor and the screensaver that doesn't come on (though the screensaver works fine and stays on when I start it manually). I will try uninstalling the motherboard apps, though it would be a shame to lose all the lighting options...

PolarNettles: The powercfg /requests reports under "System:" that with the Realtek Audio Driver an audio stream is currently in use (although there isn't any playback going on at this time!)
    Energy report is attached.

Monitor won't sleep, screensaver won't come on

I since disable the "hey cortana" feature, and the audio stream is no longer there, but the monitor still doesn't sleep (the whole PC goes to sleep just fine).

  9. So powercfg /requests shows None for all the categories?

Can you run powercfg /getactivescheme to get the GUID and then run powercfg /query <guid>? The GUID value may be different on your system.

What is the display timeout set to?

Code: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> powercfg /getactivescheme Power Scheme GUID: 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e (Balanced) PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> powercfg /query 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e Power Scheme GUID: 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e (Balanced) GUID Alias: SCHEME_BALANCED ... 10. Thanks for info.

If you could copy and paste energy report out of word and into text file I would feel more comfortable opening.

Tried search and came across lots of Dell issues. Could you share monitor type? It likely has a reset option, could you invoke just to be sure you are not fighting a monitor setting.

I notice when I search the Giogabyte site there is a Platform Power Management utility. Did you load? Not saying to load just asking did you load?

[/quote] That is correct, /requests shows "None" everywhere.
Display timeout is set to 1 minute.

    Energy report attached as txt.
The monitor is a Philips and I had it for over 3 years with various computers, it's never been a problem.
I did have the Gigabyte Platform Power Management utitlity loaded but since uninstalled it, but there's been no change.

  13. Monitor won't sleep, screensaver won't come on

Well nothing shows in that report. To be sure I ran the same energy report, I have the 8700K processor as well. Minor differences in that I run different apps but they are basically the same.

Might I propose that the issue is with Vid card. Without me looking does your MB have video out ports? Might I suggest removal of card and trying one of those port to either debunk or confirm my theory.

Maybe a fellow nVidia user knows of a setting that I am unaware of. Think this is set in Ge Force experience but not having one this needs to be confirmed.

Turns out it was the crappy Gigabyte RGB Fusion software.
I only realised it is to blame when it failed to load correctly and all of a sudden the screen went to sleep as it should.
Uninstalled it, and now sleep is working.
    Thanks for your help!

  15. Excellent. Thanks for posting solution and marking thread solved. Others will find.

Eventually the clean boot process would have identified only it would have taken longer.
