Windows 10 Mobile - when will I receive the upgrade

    Hello,

I've been waiting for this update for a year now; very excited. I've got a Microsoft Lumia 640 (had a 1520 before that and a 920 before that) and the Upgrade Advisor says:

"Good News! Your phone is eligible for upgrade to Windows 10. We are working with your mobile operator and phone manufacturer to make the upgrade available for your phone and you'll see a notification when it's ready."

This is obviously non-information - basically it is saying "Too bad, you don't get the upgrade."

    So, three questions.

    1) Isn't Microsoft the phone manufacturer, so why does Microsoft have to work with the phone manufacturer to make the upgrade available?

    2) Wasn't the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade supposed to be an OTA upgrade that was NOT controlled by the mobile operators - released directly from Microsoft to circumvent the mobile operators because they never push upgrades out?

    3) When will I receive this upgrade that I was promised from Microsoft?

The third question is obviously the most important. Microsoft should legally have to provide this information to it's customers that were promised the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade when they purchased their phones.

So, needless to so I'm very unhappy at this point.

  3. Will Nokia Lumia 1020 get any software update?

I purchased a Nokia Lumia 1020 in July 2014 where the device was marketed and promoted with the promise of future updates and enhancements.

I have received one major update (Denim). Microsoft continued to release to the media and the user community that Nokia Lumia 1020 would be eligible for the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile as recently as late 2015.

I checked the Microsoft store using the Upgrade Advisor tool and after running the App, the app reported that the device is not eligible for the Windows 10 Upgrade.

I was reluctant to purchase any mobile devices from Microsoft, of its history of quickly changing the strategic vision and planning of mobile products. I bought the Nokia Lumia 1020 and now the device will not receive updates from Microsoft.

I will not recommend mobile products in the smart phone product line based on the its support, strategic planning and support for its mobile planning. I just did a Google search and realized that the mobile division work force was essentially eliminated
and support will be lacking or non existent for its products.

I will be purchasing a Samsung Galaxy to get more features and support. Bring back Bill Gates to running a effective company and produce products that have a life cycle of more than 2 years. The leadership is definitely lacking.
