Windows 10: Motu 828x Windows 10 5.1 Setting

How can i use my 828x 5.1 surround setup with windows 10?
If i use chrome the mixer doesn't get the signal, with edge yes. But always two channels.
If i go on di.fm on edge all the speakers work.
All my pc audio tracks only 2 channels.

I recently did a reinstall of windows 10 (the latest build) and 5.1 appears to be working, but I actually can't set my audio to 5.1 in the settings. I have it set to 2.1 and for some reason audio sources that are 5.1 are playing properly... If I set it
to 5.1 then everything plays in 2.1. I have no idea whats going on.

In Windows 10 control panel, in sound options, configure speakers, there are two options stereo and 5.1. If I pick 5.1 will this upmix stereo music to 5.1? I use headphones if that changes anything. I didn't think Windows did any sound processing on its
own but when I pick 5.1 my music is a lot louder on the same volume setting.

 

I would suspect you need 5.1 input to the MOTU unit. From what I see it can't convert the stereo to 5.1.

I have my speakers plugged in analog outputs from 1 to 5 with XLR Balanced Cables. There are 4 speakers and a subwoofer, a 4.1 setup. I have MIDI inputs, but i use them for professional purpose. I am talking about every day use like listen a song on pc, youtube or play a game. In all these situations pc plays only two channels because all is stereo. May i need to use multiple outputs in windows 10 using 3 stereo pairs at the same moment, but i don't know how to do it. Can i connect my speakers directly to the pc MOBO with RCA unbalanced cables and using realtek high definition audio for every day use?

 

I use my Realtek for PC audio. It has 5.1 and 7.1 capabilities, however you must have a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system, connected to the 3 output jacks on the PC sound. If you just use the Analog out (or digital our) to an external device you are only going to get two channel (stereo) unless the source is 5.1 or 7.1.

I have a Roland Octa-Capture but I don't use it for PC audio.

 

I need to plug my speakers to rear jacks of the MOBO then. Are there RCA Unbalanced cable to Jack 3,5 mm adapters? My Motherboard is a X79A-GD45 Plus, there's in alternative one RCA input, but i will have 5 RCA cables and i will insert them in one slot. Can i buy a RCA cable splitter?

 

For now i'am using Virtual Audio Cable with 1-2 FL FR, 3-4 BL BR, 5-6 LF FC. The last one i must set two channels, but i haven't the central and the 6 analog output is empty.

 

Yes there are adapters to allow using RCA plugs with 3.5MM Stereo Jacks.
