Windows 10: Mouse and keyboard stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Hello,


Yesterday (September 12th, 2019, around 10:30 PM CET) an update was installed on my mother's computer (Windows 10). Since then, the mouse and the keyboard are not detected anymore. Here is the list of what we tried:

- Unplug and plug the keyboard and the mouse

- Try other USB ports

- Try several mouses and keyboards (including brand new ones that we bought for the occasion)

- Boot into safe mode


None of the above worked. Note however that the keyboard does work before booting into Windows (when you can select safe mode for instance).


It seems that Windows lost its ability to communicate with external devices. I am pretty sure that the solution would be to uninstall the last update and I found links explaining how to do it.


However, without a keyboard and a mouse, it is impossible to navigate into the settings and actually solve the problem. I mean, you need some way to interact with the computer in order to try stuff.


This is why I am asking the community. Did you notice similar issues? Should I wait for a patch? What can I try?

Windows 10 Keyboard and mouse suddenly stopped working.

Windows 10 - Keyboard and mouse all of sudden stopped working.

The same keyboard and mouse works on 2 other laptops.

What I have tried so far to fix.

• Tried a different wireless keyboard and mouse. - no luck.
• Ran the Troubleshooter - Hardware and Devices - It 'applied a fix' and rebooted. - still no luck.
• Uninstalled all the drivers under HID from device manager. - still no luck.
• Uninstalled all the USB drivers. - still no luck.
• Uninstalled the root hub. - still no luck.
• Tried System Restore to the previous date before the last windows update today. - still no luck

Only strange thing is after rebooting the same drivers that I deleted shows up on device manager

Any suggestions?

Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard in Windows 10

• Pres Windows+X key on your keyboard.
• Select Device Manager.
