Windows 10: Mouse buttons 4 and 5 no longer go to the next/previous page and trigger the volume instead

Hello, I'm using a bluetooth Gearhead mouse Model No: MPT4100BSW, FCC: V4P-MS-148OR-C, and buttons 4 and 5 on the side, near my thumb went to the next page and previous page respectively on windows explorer and browsers. Now they no longer do that, and instead trigger media that is playing. For instance if I'm watching a video on youtube on chrome and I press button 5 then the sound dialog box with volume and media name appears as if I pressed the volume button. I've tried reinstalling the mouse drivers and updating them but nothing seems to work.

Does your mouse have a mouse button 5? And if so is that button registering as mouse button 4?

 

Mouse buttons 4&5 not working in web browsers, but works in Windows explorer

With multiple mice (different models), I suddenly cannot use mouse buttons 4&5 in Windows 10, build 1909.

These buttons work in Win explorer, but in Chrome and Edge, they do nothing.

I have gone to a website which allows you to test your mouse buttons -- these buttons work in the virtual tester on the website.

They don't trigger back/forward actions, however.

They do trigger it in Firefox.

This is complete nonsense, and I'd like some help.
