Windows 10: Mouse cursor has randomly enlarged and has lines going through it

Mine was like that when I had the corrupted update but now all is OK.

 

Driver rollback is greyed out for me. Fancy that, haha.

 

Finished convo with Nvidia support, they said the issue is fixed and will be in the next rollout. There is a work around somehow to disabling the auto driver updates in win10 if you wind up rolling the driver back in the meantime. Just wanted to update you guys.

 

When I went to build 10166 Windows updated it to 353.30, but some of the old driver (347.88) from the previous build seemed to remain. It was causing sleep mode crashes and other minor issues. Uninstalling Nvidia drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller and reinstalling (in this case w/ the hotfix) solved it. I also appeared to have the same issues going to 10240, although I didn't bother to look this time before uninstalling & reinstalling. Anyway, I'm wondering if this could be the cause of your issues. Try it out, couldn't hurt...

Just adding in my experience whilst we wait for an update to roll out for this issue. On my nVidia GTX 670 + Windows 10 10240 I have 353.30 (have never seen this 353.50) and I've had the issue with the current build of Windows 10 and the previous build.

On the previous build I simply rolled back the driver and the cursor issue disappeared, however since updating to 10240 last night my cursor issue has returned, my driver is 353.30 and I no longer have the option the rollback.

An earlier poster mentioned reinstalling 353.30 using the custom option...thought I'd give it a try...it worked for me.

I downloaded the driver package from the nVidia website, run the installer using custom settings (I don't like installing the 3D Vision driver) and also made sure to check the 'perform clean install' checkbox.

since then, my mouse cursor behaves as it should...for now anyway *Smile

It appears the update has been pulled from Windows Update. I just d/l and did a custom install of 353.30 and all is fine. If I check WU there is no longer a driver update.

 

I just got custom cursors, perhaps if you download the default cursors online as a pack and change it to them, it may work *Smile

Although these are for XP, they work fine for windows 10:

They are the closest I could find to the default cursors. I am using them right now, so far the issue is resolved *Smile

 

After 1 day I still have 353.30 driver and all works good.

Had the same problem 3-4 days ago was so annoyed could not work. Try this below.

The temporary fix is to go to the Mouse Option -> Pointer Option then tick Display pointer trails. This will fix the cursor stretch problem and trails are less annoying lol. Cant wait for the drivers update from Nvidia.

Thanks for the suggestion. That worked. I also found on Settings->Devices-> Mouse & touchpad-> Advanced mouse options-> Pointers, I could set Enable pointer shadow rather than using the trails. That makes the normal mouse pointer and the resize arrow pointers work right, although the text cursor pointer still seems elongated. I'll probably use this though because it gets rid of the cursor trails.

 

My fix was to simply uninstall the NVidia drivers from the uninstall page. I then did a CLEAN install of the 353.30 drivers. So far my computer has not updated to the newer (and invisible on NVidia's driver update page) NVidia driver. I ran Windows Update a couple of times but no graphics driver update. Perhaps MS has temporarily dropped auto-updating the driver to 353.50? I will give it a day or so to see if the newer driver is pushed onto my machine. Definitely fixes the over tall I cursor issue I was having.

353.50 is the driver that caused the issue for most users. You can d/l 353.30 from NVidia's site and install it, that's how I did it. It appears the 353.50 update has been removed from Windows Update. Nothing new from Nvidia at this time.
