Windows 10: Mouse Pointer Is A Timer After Unlocking

Windows 10 Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763

Around May, whenever I unlock the system the mouse cursor is no longer a pointer but is the blue circle. It never goes back to a pointer unless I go into settings, devices, mouse, additional mouse options, then select the pointers tab. Once I click OK without making any changes, the cursor goes back to normal.


I assume this happened after an update, but I have not been able to identify which one might be the culprit.

You can customize your mouse in a variety of ways in Windows. To change how your mouse pointer looks, you can follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the Start menu, then click Control Panel.
• Select Mouse, then go to the Pointers tab.
  
• Select the pointer you prefer from the drop-down list, click
  Apply > OK.

If you want to use a pointer that is not on the list, you can download it online. After that, go to Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers tab again, then click
Browse.

The "egg timer" keeps appearing next to the mouse pointer in Windows 8.1

I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop and the "egg timer" keeps appearing next to the mouse pointer preventing my screensaver from working.

Can this be fixed?
