  1. Move 1tb SSD to new computer

I have a 2011 Dell Lattitude E6520. now 10 years old A year ago, I cloned the hard drive, and installed a Samsung 1TB SSD in it. The OS is windows 10 professional 64bit. Everything works fine. I have microsoft 365 installed on it, and Microsoft Office 2010. I use outlook from 2010. I like it much better than the newer versions of outlook.

Today I ordered a Dell Optiplex 7070 MFF. The optiplex comes with a 256gb ssd.

On my Latitude I have the Microsoft Office 2010 installed and I really dont want to lose it.

If I just unplug the 1tb ssd from my latutude, can I install it as my C:\ drive into my Optiplex? Will everything just work?

Is there a better method I should use to try to move MSO2010 to the new computer? Will I need an Activation key for my 2010 version? I dont know what I did with it.

    Thanks for any advice

    :)

  3. New computer - how to move OS to new (larger) drive?

    Hi all,

    • I got a new computer a few days ago.
    • Its startup drive is a 250gb SSD and it has a 1TB standard drive. It has Windows 10 and is working fine...
    • However, I have a 1TB SSD I'd rather use as my primary drive. It's from my old computer and has Windows 10 installed.
Is it possible to "move" or reinstall the current OS on my 1TB SSD and use that as the startup drive?

Regarding methods, I've seen a lot of different info all over the place, so thought it might be a better idea to ask here...

    thanks

Move 1tb SSD to new computer

Transfer OS from 512 to 1tb SSD

I'm in the process of building a new rig. I would like to transfer the OS from my current 512 SSD to a 1tb SSD. My Os is already linked to my MS account and I printed out the steps about using the troubleshooter after a significant hardware change. The Question is: Can I clone the 512 to the 1tb or does it require a clean install? OS is Win 10 Pro.
