    Moved "Program Files" and "WindowsApps" Out Of C: and Don't Know How To Reverse It


    Hello,


    first off, I don't remember how I did this. I believe I naively played around with a couple settings as I was reorganising my files.


    Both in D: and on my external SD Card E:, I now have two additional folders, "Program Files" and "WindowsApps", which I believe originally belonged to C: before I messed up my system settings. If I try to cut+paste or even delete them, it says I can't do so because I lack the necessary authorisation of "TrustedInstaller" or "All" original German "Jeder".
    What can I do to return these folders to their original location in C:?


    I'd be super grateful if somebody on here knows how to solve this problem. Have a good day! :

    What is the default OWNER of C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    H PollockLA

    Click your Start Button, then just type cmd

    From the resulting list, right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

    Paste this into Command Prompt and press Enter:

    icacls "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" /reset /t /c /q

    What command will take time to execute, wait for that command to complete, then close Command Prompt

    That will reset all permissions on the WindowsApps folder and all contained files and folders

    Unnecessary apps in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    I see a lots of versions of the same app in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. These are apps that I don't even have installed. Overall they are taking up about 10GB.

    1. How can I remove these apps completely?
    2. Or can I keep only the most recent version?

    The storage sense
    suggested here     or disk cleanup of system files has not helped.

    Moved "Program Files" and "WindowsApps" Out Of C: and Don't Know How To Reverse It

    Reset default ACLs for C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    I did not have to use the recovery disk option mentioned previously. I just had to run it from the command prompt in administrator mode:

    Parameter description:

    • /reset Replaces ACLs with default inherited ACLs for all matching files.
    • /t Performs the operation on all specified files in the current directory and its subdirectories.
    • /c Continues the operation despite any file errors. Error messages will still be displayed.
    • /q Suppresses success messages.

    Note: I think I may have also restarted the computer like suggested, but I don't think that is required.
