  1. Moving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default

I know this has probably been answered before but I could really do with a step by step walk through of this.

Basically I got a new computer. Got it for a big amount of space (over a tb) and therefore I want everything to be saved on that disk. Have had it for a couple of days when I started getting notifications already saying I was low on space which I got confused by but then I realised that it was saving everything (eg. program files) on a smaller disk called "Windows (CMoving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default :) with only 118 gb of space. The one I want everything stored on is another local disk called DATA (DMoving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default :).

Can I/How do I move everything the bigger disk? I've already done the rookie thing of thinking I can just drag everything in my Windows (CMoving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default :) disk to the other disk which just copies everything when I want to move it permanently (what I mean by permanently is the fact when I install programs in the future + files are saved from programs, that by default they'll be saved onto the bigger disk and not the smaller one).

If anyone can help me out I would be so grateful.

    :)

  2. Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...

open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)

    enter in
    DISKPART
    list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
    type in

    Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
    ASSIGN

that should get the array up and running ready to use.

    EDITED.

    any problems, post back ^^

Still EDITING *Stick Out Tongue Moving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default :p

side question, have you tried restarting the PC?

  3. How to move pagefile to another disk? (Windows keeps using C: disk instead of another)

I have a vague recollection that the paging file needs to occupy unfragmented disk space. If so then you need to find a way to defrag your SSD. Doing it through the Disk Manager will not work but maybe this method will:

    • Temporarily move the stuff from the SSD to a different drive or partition.
    • Format the SSD.
    • Put the paging file there.
    • Restore the data.

  4. Moving all files to a different disk and having that disk being used as default

What should I have as backup-a RECOVERY disk or a REPAIR disk? Are these the same or different?

Got the free upgrade to Windows 10 and I need to start making some kind of a Repair/Recovery disk.

Are these the same thing? Are they different?

Can someone list the steps needed to make this/ these disk (s)?

    Thank you.
