  1. Moving Appdata folder

I am looking to move the Appdata folder within my user file. I have tried previously to move it(changing the location of the files inside it)and it caused system hangs and a loss of the start menu.

Ive also tried to do the old method of running though audit mode and that also does not work.

Reason being for this is my main drive C: is an m.2 drive used for the OS only. Programs being automatically installed on the m.2 is causing program hangs for one and two, i dont want the m.2 drive to be used constantly.

Is there any way to move these folders without causing system hangs and loss of the start menu?

    :)

    Cortana and moving appdata folder

I tried doing that and now the start menu, notifications and right clicking on icons on the taskbar work on my other windows user account. However that account still has issues: The windows store doesn't work and when I clicked it in my apps it's icon
disappeared. Same thing happened with calculator and other apps.

    Moving Appdata folder

Unfortunately, as you have noticed, there's just some things that can't be changed and that Folder is one of them and each User gets it. If I want to save room on the boot drive I do Custom installs of programs [usually a choice in the early stage of the install], haven't found but a few that don't allow that which I consider to be remiss on the part of those programmers. Even though the programs may show in AppData they may also show in C:\Programs Files or C:\Program Files (x86) Folders on 64-bit Windows or C:\Program Files Folder on 32-bit Windows. There will also be data related to those programs in C:\ProgramData. Quite complicated.

I have moved the Roaming folder under appdata with no problems. I just leave local and locallow where they are.
