  1. Moving my current SSD to a new system

Hello, I am looking to buy a brand new PC soon and I want to be able to use the SSD that I already have on my current system. The SSD that I already own has Windows 10 already installed on it. I do not mind having to freshly install Windows but I'm in the dark a little on how to do that. Would I just connect the SSD and boot or are there some other steps I need to follow? Thanks.

    :)

  2. Window upgrade to new SSD

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you. We will be glad to assist you for the issue.

I would like to inform you that if you replace the current ssd with new ssd then you will face issues with your currently installed OS that is Windows 8.1. So in this case we suggest you let the currently ssd be there and
you can install Windows 10 on the new ssd without replacing with the current ssd so that the system doesn't crash.

Let us know if you need more information. We will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.

  3. Moving a storage device to a whole new set of hardware

You can certainly move the SSD but Windows will not run for these reasons:

    • Invalid product key. All Windows product keys are tied to the hardware (CPU, motherboard etc.)
    • Invalid HAL. The correct Hardware Abstraction Layer gets established at installation time. It will be incorrect when moving the disk to different hardware.

    SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling/vibrating. Possible?

This has been suggested several times already, and it has been suggested you try to move the SSD, remove it, or even suspend it in your case. Will you please try one of these?

If you don't understand vibration and resonance, please refer to @dorsetknob 's post above. *Smile Moving my current SSD to a new system :) It has been explained that something else moving/vibrating (even if you don't think they're vibrating they are...), fans, hard disk drives, and anything with a motor will cause some form of vibration at certain frequencies. This can be transfered through your case's chassis and where you mounted your SSD could be reaching a certain frequency that causes it to slightly move and rattle against the case.

We are suggesting you take action and report back..you keep asking questions from step 1...we should be on step 4 by now...that is solution.

Try what has been suggested and report back please. Otherwise all you're doing is leading this thread in an endless circle and the help will stop shortly thereafter.

    *Toast :toast:
