  1. Moving Win 11 to a new drive

So I just got a new SSD drive that is considerably larger than the one I have that has Win 11 on it upgraded from a Win 10. I want to install Win 11 on the new SSD because the old one is running out of room and it has nothing BUT Win 11 on it, and other system files. Here is my question:What is the best way to install Win 11 on the new drive, move my config files and such over, and then wipe the old drive? I've done clean installs and such on my computer before, but I want to try to keep most of the settings so I don't have to reinstall much if I can help it. Thanks in advance.

    :)

Moving task bar in Win 11 new question

I have a cool idea. Add a NEW feature in Win 11 that lets users move the taskbar. That would bump things up in the priority list.

  3. How in WIN 11 do I change the drive letter of the CD/ROM drive?

    Thanks, Greg.

So this is what worked, step by step.

    Reboot

Drive is listed as E: in file explorer.

Drive not listed in Disk Management.

Insert DVD, it plays after short pause.

Disk management now shows Audio CD as E:

Right click, change letter to R: (while playing!)

    Reboot.

Drive now shows as BD-RE drive as R: in File Explorer.

    The bottom line is

    - File Explorer does not provide for changing drive letter afics.

    - Disk Management seems to need a disk to be in the drive for it to "see" the drive. I can't recall is this is Win 10 behaviour

I don't recall having any difficulty with this in Win 10 (its possible that the Win 10 default drive allocation was "after" my external drives; or I "just changed it").

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Moving Win 11 to a new drive

Switching from Win 10 to Win 11

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be getting new MB and CPU when I move to Win11. And I always do system volume image backups after I successfully update Windows so no problem there *Smile. Cheers!
