Windows 10: MP3 Player Not Shown

I have combed through forums, helps, quick fixes, and YouTube videos of how to fix this for almost two hours, now, and I'm about to cry in frustration with how useless it's all been. Everything I find assumes that magically the computer actually sees the item listed but doesn't act on it and that IS NOT the case here.


This particular MP3 player has worked the other times I've connected it in the past, but I haven't had to charge it for a couple of months due to lack of use. However, it still works and when I connect it to the laptop it still charges properly. But, when connected to charge and change songs out tonight, the computer refuses to acknowledge that it's even connected.


The device DOES NOT show up under any of the options in Device Manager. It doesn't show up under This PC as a storage device under any name at all (the only ones showing are Apple iPhone, iCloud, OS (C and DATA (D). Uninstalling USB BUS and letting it reinstall has not fixed the issue. No port I plug it to makes it recognize that it's there. Troubleshooting doesn't show that there's a problem with it. Searching for devices to add only turns up the Roku in the other room and manually searching doesn't show it, either. I REALLY don't want to take a two-hour trip to where I bought the laptop just to get them to look at it and make the damn thing work like it's supposed to.


This has happened with now THREE SEPARATE MP3 PLAYERS, two different brands entirely. At first, I thought perhaps the first type I had was just too old to work anymore and bought another, and one for my mother as a Christmas present. But then it stopped recognizing the old one (it still charges properly) and now it won't recognize her mp3 player OR mine, and both of those two newer ones are less than a year old. Less than SIX MONTHS old, in fact.


I've included two screenshots of the screens to show what I mean. This is WHILE the device is connected and properly charging, but not showing up at all.

MP3 player sync

I have a Creative 8GB mp3 player ad wondering if anyone else has some good suggestions beyond WMP for syncing my library too it.

list of ogg compatable players(ogg vorbis) most of them will support formats other then mp3/wma and ogg, due to the chip they use to decode, great list of units that are broad specturm *Smile

 

Good mp3 player?

My cheapo £35 4GB mp3 player off ebay is starting to fall to bits after only 5 or 6 months of use (why is it always the headphone socket that gets damaged the easiest *Bang Head :banghead. I do plan on fixing it, but I just wanna get a decent one with better sound quality etc:

Can you guys recommend me a good mp3 player with the following:

• Good sound quality
• Video playback not a must, because it will just drain the battery
• High capacity (4GB minimum)
• A good brand
• Good build quality
• NOT an ipod *Stick Out Tongue
• No more than £150
