    even tho I have installed mpc-hc, its not available as default choice ..why ?

    What is happening, is that Win 10 is picking up not the executable desktop MPC -HC , but rather the "Uninstall" that comes with MPC-HC. ...so, what happens is that when I do as you recommend,, and click on the icon, in the SETTINGS list, I get an "uninstall
    MPC-HC" query, rather than Win10 opening the player screen ...Frustrated.

    To me, the simplest thing for MS to have done is INCLUDE all the popular free-source vid players (eg. MPC-HC, VLC..) in its OEM "store".

    Your response has been timely and though not solving the problem, has moved the solution process forward. Baby steps.

    Problem with OVI Suite, ffdshow and Media Player Classic

    For mpc-hc you can block codes that are installed in the mpc-hs's external codec options. I've blocked all the codecs that Nokia Suite installs. And mpc-hc uses the codecs that I wan't it to use.

    Running the latest, but it was x86. Uninstalled it and installed x6... now I'll see if this makes a diff...

    Seems to screw up the taskbar, and the start menu.

    Gonna run Potplayer for a bit, see if it's any better...

    Yea, Potplayer seems to work with no issues. That's ok, Potplayer is a program I can use...

    K, what's all going wrong with it? Start menu becomes f'd up, quick launch becomes unusable, icons disappear from taskbar. Note also that the video is playing on a separate screen.

    Yes, the portable version of vlc seems to eliminate the issue...!!!

    I have the same issue. Well, I was able to play MIDI files gaplessly in MPC-HC, but later on it causes issues on my computer. Using the same build (9879), and I have 64-bit version of MPC-HC installed. I think the app caused this problem, when I switched to Winamp to play MIDI files (although it's not so good at playing MIDI files), everything is okay.
