  1. MS Acount was Hacked - 2 step verification Failed!

I received a text message at 2 AM indicating that my phone number was removed from my MS account.

At 8 am I attempted to log-in to my account only to find out that my account "didn't exist".

by 8:30 I was in contact with MS support, they identified that my account had indeed been changed and asked me if I recognized the new email associated (something @ yeah.net). I informed them that it wasn't me - explained the situation, relayed all the info, and was told there was nothing they could do because I had 2 step verification.

It took 8 days and 30+ attempts with MS support (all the basics, forgot your password? try this account recovery form, etc) before someone finally figured out that my account had indeed been hacked, and all my personal data was in someone else's control.

I've tried numerous times to get someone from MS to provide "support" in figuring out how someone got around the 2 step verification. Nothing!

They don't seem to have any idea what may of happened, nor do they seem to care. At this point I just want to know how it happened, so I can fix any potential problems on my end. Its hard to believe that someone got access to my text messages as well as my account log-in information.

I'm starting to believe this is actually a problem with Microsoft that they are trying to ignore.

    :)

  2. Turning off 2 step verification

Having recently upgraded my PC to windows 10 I was prompted to 2 step verification. the logic and reason is sound. However since doing this I cannot get into my hotmail.co.uk using my iPhone. I found a link to the
solution when I removed the authenticator app on my phone. Only to find a similar issue dated 2013. I have logged in via my PC running Windows 10, my laptop running windows 7 Professional and an ipad going in via safari. NO WHERE is this option visible.

    Turning off 2-Step Verification
    • In “Signing in & security” section of My Account, select 2-Step Verification. Sign in with your username, password, and verification
      code if asked.
    • Select Turn off 2-Step Verification.
    • A pop-up window will appear to confirm that you want to turn off 2-Step Verification. Select OK
How can this be achieved. I use emails on my phone for work being self employed and it is causing me issues.

As this problem seems to have been around for a few years surely there must be a resolution now. I really do not want to have to drop my Hotmail account as it is widely known, but if no solution is available I will have no option.

    Remove 2-step verification on Skype

I have 2-step verification ON for non-trusted devices. However, on my work computer (which I have designated as a trusted device), whenever I log into Skype using my Microsoft account. And, every single time, it asks for 2-step verification. I looked on
Skype on how to turn it off, but since it's verification of my MS account, it refers me to MS. Any idea how to fix this?

If it helps, I'm using the desktop version of Skype, running on Windows 10.
