  1. MS detected malware on computer-threatening to close down MSO

Hi. Checking to see if the phone calls and pop up window notice warning me that my computer is infected with malware and if I don't call a number or click on the link in the pop up window that MS will be forced to delete my MS account. Is this real? I treat all this stuff as a scam. I have WebRoot Security installed on my computer.

Googled MS for a phone number and called, but can't get to a live person, so thought this forum would be my next best option. Do I have a problem?

    :)

    malware detected

I’m not sure what the “META” alert indicates.
Let’s see if resolving the malware detection will fix it.

The malware detection may be in a browser. Any new browser extensions that need to be disabled?

Any new programs/apps just installed that might contain adware?

Empty temporary internet files, restart the computer, manually update WD and run a Quick Scan.

Anything new in Startup that needs to be disabled?

If the malware detections continue suggest you try the following free independent scanners:

    AdwCleaner: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

    Emsisoft Emergency Kit: http://blog.emsisoft.com/2015/06/09...lware-infections-with-emsisoft-emergency-kit/

Other scanners that may help are listed at List
    of Malware Removal Tools

If the issue continues open Defender, look in All Detected Items and copy the name of the malware and complete file path and tell us about the malware.

You may also want to submit a copy of the file to VirusTotal for analysis:

Please post back in this thread if the malware issue continues.

    Good luck...

    uninstall driver detective

Not sure if Driver Detective is a make believe moniker for some malware stuff or not but my computer gets scanned daily by my premier plan of malware/antimalware and it is nearly always listed as threatening programming, so I always erase them. A few days
ago there were 145 threats all from driver detective. Which should explain why I really want to be rid of this pesky software.
