Windows 10: MS Flight Simulator 2020 and "Gaming services" app, required for steam version or not?...

I cant seem to get a straight answer on this one and my own testing is confusing.

With the steam version, is it required to have GS windows app? I tried uninstalling GS and it still ran.

Same deal with the win store version of MSFS 20, it ran fine msfs without gs.

I'm trying to avoid the endless windows updates cycle each msfs update seems that if you disable updates, you cant update ms store apps.


Anyone know of hand what the real story is here?

No, no, no, maybey are wrong! Just after I sent my error log to them, I received an email below:

I'm so disappointed and angry to receive such an email! Microsoft customer service told me to ask Steam customer service if I had a problem, but Steam customer service wrote: "Sorry, Steam customer service
cannot help you with games made by other companies“. I have submitted my error logs for this game in the hope that they will find some bugs to improve this forward-thinking game. Because I'm not the only one who needs help, there are many other users who are
suffering from similar bugs. But it seemed that they chose to kick me back to Steam.

I asked refund and soon was approved. I think Steam is also boring about the complains of this half-finished big bug!

Is there a way I can download Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 from Microsoft store when the game is bought from Steam.
