Windows 10: MS Paint Keep Crashing When Selecting Text Tool To Add Text

Paint 11.2408.30.0 Session identifier: uFd4mGELpkOT9JzBt5flQw.1 Windows 11 Pro When I select the Text Tool now, MS Paint just crashes and shutdown. I ran the REPAIR and RESET under Installed Apps. Also UNINSTALLED and REINSTALLED MS Paint but still CRASHES. MS Paint crash when using text tool

Yes, MS Paint crashes when trying to select the Text tool, just as has been described here.

I took another look at my fonts via your instructions, and lo and behold I found one at the top without a Name value. It was related to TurboTax 2017. I backed up the suspect font files, uninstalled the font, and now MS Paint works!

1: Confirm if your crash is same as others got fixed by removing font(s) without name: Paint crashes when text tool is clicked, before you are able to click to add any text.

2: Right click on Desktop -> Personalize -> Personalization -> Fonts: The font library should be sorted by name, with font(s) without name listed at beginning.

3. Click the font without name to see details, and find file location and font file name.

4. Copy the font file(as shown in step 3) to backup device.

5. After backup the font file, click three dots at upper right corner of the font, select uninstall.

6. If any application needs the font, you can install again. There is also online utility to covert font file, you may be able to add it back without causing paint crash after convert the font file from legacy format to Windows 11 friendly format.
