Windows 10: MS Photos application-why photos in Android phone not import/transfer to laptop hard drive?

I have attempted to import/transfer photos in my Android mobile phone to my laptop hard drive. My use of MS Photos application is my second attempt & another way entirely from my first attempt.There seem to be a number of difficulties with this application. iAfter proper USB wire connection, proceeding through the 'import' function, locating the images in my phone, I seem not to be able to find a function that actually instigates a transfer.ii Still on this procedure, there seems also no function or information/indication of where the photos are meant to go? learned that default is Thi

• Do you receive any error message/code when trying to import the photos? If yes, what is the error message?
  
• When you say, “photos previously - some are now corrupt or cannot be opened”, what is the complete error message that you receive?
  
• Which program are you using to open the photos?

You may try restoring the files to a previous version and see if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Navigate to the location where the photos are stored.
   
2. Right click on the folder and select Restore previous version.

Transfer photos from Android phone to Windows 10 laptop

I am having difficulties transferring my photos from my Android phone to Windows 10. With earlier versions of Windows, I would simply plug my phone into the laptop with USB and I would get a box popped up that would ask me what I wanted to do - easy peasy.
Now, when I plug my phone into the USB, I do not get the pop-up box. I can see the phone in My Computer, but I cannot find the photos or move them. I tried to sync my photos to One Drive, thinking that I could then download them from One Drive to my laptop,
but that has not worked for me to date. What is the easiest way to transfer photos from Android phone to Windows 10?
