Windows 10: MS Windows Defender

I received an email saying that my free trial subscription to MS Windows Defender has expired and will be renewed automatically. I will be charged $399.99. Is it really from MS? A phone number 1-888-341-4938 is left in the email. Is it MS number?

MS Defender Won't Load After Upgrade to Windows 10 Ver 1511

Attempted every step in document provided by Microsoft

Nothing worked, HOWEVER, the last step is to Delete Conflicting Registry Entries. My registry contains one of the entries listed (MsMpEng.exe) however, REGEDIT could not delete this entry as I was directed.

Problem still exists; as soon as I start MS Defender, it stops.

Any further suggestions?

 

Windows Defender problem

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
  
• Click Settings.
  
• Turn Real-time protection on.
