Windows 10: MS Word 2003 moved to win 10 is searching for something

Hi,

My wife uses MS Office Pro 2003 to do volunteer work for our church. It does everything she needs. I moved the software from my PC Win 7 computer to my MS Surface Pro 3 running Win 10. I used LapLink PC Mover.


MS Word now opens, but is not usable for quite some time. If touched (clicked) with the mouse, it says 'Not responding." If I leave it alone, it eventually becomes usable. This makes me think, though I have no idea, that Word is searching for something.


I had trouble with scrambled folders as a result of the move, but, after some work, including changes to the registry, that seems to be OK now. In the process though, it's possible a file or sub-folder is misplaced. So, a registry entry may be pointing to the wrong location.


I need help sorting this out. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

MS Word 2003 lagging on fast computer!!!

Here is the problem in detail:



I can't think that i am the only one experiencing this sort of "slumber". Even if i reduce the page size to 50 % it still horribly lags.

Can anyone reproduce this situation in his own MS Word and compare the experience?

Is this a MS Word 2003 problem or compatibility with Windows 7 in general?

Right click at the Word tile > click More > click Open file location > now you will see all your Office 2003 programs listed > right click at one of them > click Properties ........

Mt screenshot shows 2007, yours will be 2003.

Is it just one file, or all your word files?

With the exception of Outlook, I have yet to find a reason to stop using Office 2000, 2003, and 2007. They open all the latest files just fine, and they work just fine.
