Windows 10: MS Word 2016 displays doc properly, but boxes appear when printing

I just printed several 200+ page documents and somebody noticed that the document is riddled with boxes. This seems to happen only on pages that have Thai characters on them. The document is used in a bilingual school so they are all a mixture of English & Thai. Here's a pic below:





It happens when printing to paper or to PDF. I copied the page into Wordpad and it printed fine, without the boxes. Several of my coworkers who use PCs with Win10 don't have this problem. I'm the only one using Win10 on a Surface Pro (the most recent one, released in 2017).

Everything displays properly. It's only when I go to print that the boxes appear.

Displaying 2 word docs simaltaneously

I have windows 10 and office 2016, when i open the 2 word docs and select view side by side, the docs reduce to half screen, but only one displays at a time

• Does the issue occur on the other user accounts as well?
• Did you make any changes to the system prior to this issue?
• Which version of Microsoft Office is installed on the computer?
• What is the error message you get while trying to print that word document?
• Is the issue specific to a particular word document?

I suggest you sign out from the current user account, restart the pc and sign in to the Microsoft account and check the status of the issue. Install all pending updates on the computer. Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix
problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

To print the current document you can press Ctrl + P Keys. In the Print dialog box, choose the desired options.
