    MSCOMCTL.OCX errors, DLLregisterserver failed

I am trying to run a piece of software and when I do I get the following error:

Component MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

I searched for it and found the file and copied it to the syswow64 folder.

I then went to the admin command prompt and tried:

    c:\windows\syswow64> regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx

Then I got the following error:

the module "mscomctl.ocx" was loaded but the call to DllREgisterServer failed with error code 0x8000405.

I have looked all over but the only thing I see is to make sure you are in an admin command prompt. I am in the admin windows power shell command prompt.

What else can I do? Running windows 10 20H0 19042.844

    :)

OCX component DllRegisterServer method works in Safe mode, fails in Normal mode

    I have an application that invokes an OCX component's DllRegisterServer method;
this invocation succeeds in Safe mode, but fails in Normal mode. This application requires registering MouseWheelControl.ocx. In Safe
Mode, the application launches fine. When I launch the application in Normal mode, I get the following error:

    07-Sep-2015 12:55:01 > DXLogMain.Form_load: unable to register MouseWheelControl.ocx: RegisterMouseWheelControl failed with error code -2147467259

Any ideas how to fix this? Is this a bug in Windows 10?

failed to install update Error code: (0x800b0100)

I followed the suggested steps. I skipped steps 4 and 5 as first attempt.

I got to regsvr32.exe mshtml.dll and received the following error:

The module "mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that the "mshtml.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

    Suggestions?
