Windows 10: MSConfig & Selective Startup

If I make changes, I also delete the prefetch directory files so they don't conflict.

 

Fastboot caused me no end of problems like this, it really shouldn't be the default. It's on my list of things to disable on new installs.

 

The way i fixed this is just by going into Safemode and selecting the mode you want to boot from, selective, normal or diagonstic. That helped me. When i had this issue before on W7 i solved it by switching modes everytime i booted.

 

have not disabled anything on services tab. why is computer in selective startup?

That's normal if you have third party drivers installed. Nothing to worry about.

Not sure of usual precautions. That's why I asked about selective startup, wanted to be sure nothing was rotten in Demark (I mean besides cheese) before I install or download anything, just paranoid I guess. Before I jump off this new cliff. You know its not the fall that kills you its the sudden stop at the end.

You should make a complete image backup of your C-Drive 1st, then if you choose to upgrade to Windows Creative you can restore your previous version, painlessly *Smile Lots of us here only use Macrium Reflect. Free program and one of the best.

Can I uninstall it when I'm done doing backup or leave it?

 

If your talking about Macrium Reflect, why would you even want to uninstall it ?? How would you restore any backup made by Macrium if you uninstall it?? Sorry, but your question don't make sense to me, unless you do not want to use Macrium to make your backups. It is MUCH better than Windows Backup...
