    MSE + Win 10 + Upgrade from Win 7 = Annoying

    Hey guys,

Hopefully someone can help. While not a huge issue, it is bloody annoying. I recently upgraded from Win 7 Home 64 bit, to the Win 10 equivalent. During the upgrade process, the computer correctly identified and uninstalled MSE (at least, it said it did).

Now, every time I turn the computer on, I get an annoying notification, "We've turned on Microsoft Defender Antivirus to protect your device. Your version of Microsoft Security Essentials is incompatible with this version of Windows."

I have searched far and wide, and the answers all suggest removing MSE. Well, MSE isn't "here." There is no MSE folder, it does not show up in the Add/Remove Programs section, and as far as I can tell, there is no MSE service running, according to the task manager. WTF!

Is there a way to find out where the remnants of MSE are, and to remove them, so I stop getting this notification?

The one thing I have not done is revert to Win 7, uninstall MSE prior to upgrading, and then go through the upgrade process again. I don't want to do that. It's my parents computer, and if this notification continues, whatever.... I am only here a couple more weeks.

Thank you for any direction / help you can provide.

    Win 10 & MSE & Skype

    Hi there,

Before upgrading from WIN 7 to WIN 10 should I remove MSE?

If I use standard user account, my setting will be saved?

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings from Poland.

is hardware OK (Win 7) for upgrade to windows 10

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?
    and got to point

    • UPGRADE this PC now
    • Create media(DVD, USB stick, ISO)
is hardware OK (Win 7) for an upgrade to windows 10 for this PC???
