    MsMpEng.exe Memory Leak


    Edition Windows 10 Home Version 21H1 Installed on ‎10/‎19/‎2020 OS build 19043.1766 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0 Processor IntelR CoreTM i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz I have a memory leak of 35% from windows defender. I have added exclusions windows defender, MsMpEng.exe, Used DISM tool then sfc scan. No corruption found. Please advise.Turning off real time protection for 40 minutes seems to have stopped the leak. Turning it back on immediately spikes it again.

    MsMpEng using 19 gigabytes of memory

    I was programming today when I checked task manager and noticed that MsMpEng was using 19 GIGABYTES of memory

    This seems like a memory leak.

    I have realtime protection and automatic updating turned off

    Explain this, nerds.

    Memory leak issue

    The term "memory leak" means that an application fails to return all its RAM to the operating system when it exits. The leftover RAM is unusable to the operating system.

    Step one is to identify the application that is leaking memory. Step two is to contact the application's developers and provide as much detailed data on the memory leak as you can. For example: which processes are still in RAM after the application exits
    and how much RAM they occupy. Application developers never want their applications to leak memory and they will be grateful for the details you provide, particularly if they can replicate the leak on their own computers.
