Windows 10: Multimediabuttons on remote do not work with custom shell

Hi everyone.I have this strange problem with a emulation / mediacenter box. I have added a custom shell to windows called Retrobat which is an executable file that runs another executable fil emulationstation, instead of explorer.exe. Most stuff works and if I need the full windows experience I just call explorer.exe from task manager. I have my reasons for not having explorer.exe as the shell - I want to make a clean box for game launch and media consumption with a more consolized experience and with a lot of faffing it kinda works.I do have this one problem, that I mysefl, assisted by ChatG

How to update the version of our custom shell

I am running a custom shell (as if it was a kiosk system), but I need to be able to update the software version remotely (using AWS SSM). I would like it to occur as seamlessly as possible, without the anyone at the remote site aware that an update has just occurred.

I cannot install over the top, as it is still running and some libraries are not updated. I cannot uninstall it, because it is the custom shell. I can't stop the process because it will just restart.

What is the process for installing a new version of my custom shell?

hi lakshmangiri, it seems that the path you defined in custom shell is not accurate or the applicaiton is not present at path defined in custom shell . Now you can do one thing.

Boot the system in safe mode . Then Click Troubleshoot -> Advance settings ->startup settings->restart

Your computer will restart and present a list of different startup options

press the number 6 key to enter Safe Mode without Command Prompt

Command Prompt will we be appears type explorer and press enter key Desktop will be show in safe mode

Then make a Tool for set explorer.exe in custom shell and copy that Tool in PC. set the explorer.exe in custom shell with the help of Tool. After successfully set custom shell restart or shutdown PC and on next reboot start in normal

After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, Remote Desktop is not working

I suggest you to run Built In troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Step 1: Please follow the steps below to run Built in Troubleshooter:

• Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar.
  
• Click on View all on the left panel of the Troubleshooting Windows.
  
• Select Windows store Apps.
  
• Follow the on screen instruction.

Step 2: After running Troubleshooter follow the below steps.

• Type Remote Desktop in search bar.
• Select Remote Desktop app and open it.
• In the bottom you will see a button as Show Options.
• Click on Show Options, you will see the options to enter your credentials.
• Enter the credentials and click on Connect.
• Check if it works.
