I always seem to have between 6 and 8 instances of Edge running on my system. If I try and close down any of them, they start back up again. But as soon as I close the, they don't seem to affect Edge at all?

Some instances of it are using around 300meg of ram, while several show zero. I have seen it mentioned that extensions can cause this. But this is vanilla Edge with nothing added at all. I started using Edge as it really did improve battery life on my Surface Pro 4. But with this issue it doesn't help, and browsers like Firefox or Chrome are using less resources. Thanks.

    :)

  2. MS Edge showing up multiple times in Task Manager

I purchased a new laptop about two weeks ago on Win 10, 12 GB memory. When I use MS Edge, multiple instances show up in Task Manager even when I have only one tab (and only one instance of Edge running). The first shows up in Apps, but I have 4 other instances
totaling almost 500 MB under background processes. Same thing when I try Google Chrome, but with Chrome (again only one tab, one instance), I have 17 (!!) instances under background processes totalling almost 400 MB. Why do so many instances of either browser
show up and can/should I end some of these processes to free up memory? Right now with Outlook, Edge, iTunes, and of course Task Manager, I'm at 40% memory. That seems awfully high for only four programs running.

    Multiple instances of Windows Explorer

    No, do not uninstall them.

    1) Restart your computer, go to Task Manager (Check how many Windows Explorers there are real quick)
    2) Look at all the other apps that are running, here's some examples of some of your 3rd party apps from your pictures above: Google Chrome, iTunes 5, Malwarebytes, Telegram (I don't know what that is), Autohotkey, [you may have more down that list]

If you could post multiple screenshots of everything listed there (yes it might be a hastle, but I can point out the apps that you can End Task. Wait one question too... I see you have a Restart button. Mine shows "End Task"
