Windows 10: Multiple Monitor setup not working

Hi, I have a frustrating problem with windows and a new laptop running multiple monitors.


I have 2 monitors that I would like to run, both are WQHD standard and happy to run at 2560x1440 resolution - a Samsung LC32JG50 and a Iiyama E2783QSU


The new laptop is for work, and corporately managed. It's a Lenovo T490, with 16GB RAM which comes with the Intel UHD 620 chipset which according to specs can support 3 monitors at 4K 3840 × 2160. I'm connecting the laptop to a Lenovo USB C dock Gen2 40AS0090EU and two monitors are 1 via DP and 1 via HDMI to the dock.


Now the problem is that I can run either monitor at 2560x1440 individually i.e. by selecting 'only on 1' or 'only on 2' in the display settings. Windows is happy to identify the monitors and the available resolutions with 2560x1440 the 'recommended' resolution. However, when I try and extend the monitors as this is the config I want to run windows sets the Iiyama to 2560x1440 and the Samsung to a much lower resolution something like 1440 x 900 and refuse to even list a higher resolution. It's also always the Iiyama that gets the higher resolution. I have tried looking at 'list all modes' option in the display adapter, and the higher resolutions are not listed there as an option either.


Being a corporate machine, I can't easily re-install drivers, so would appreciate any views on what people think the issue is / thinks to try before giving up!

Double Monitor Setup is not connecting

Hi Yuri,

To setup dual monitors, I suggest you to press Windows + P keys
and select Extend or the required option and check for status. If you are still unable to setup dual monitor, suggest you to update the Display Adapter driver by following the steps provided below and check for status.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

Changing the monitor to be the main display is one of the possible ways to resolve your concern. We need to set the monitor you prefer to be the main display thru Settings app. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings.
  
• Click System.
  
• Click Display in the left pane.
  
• Click Identity to know monitor number you wish to set as the main display.
  
• Select the monitor number, then click the Make this my main display check box.
  
• Click Apply.
