Windows 10: My account states that I put in my password wrong too many times only on my laptop.

So this issue has been bugging me for over a year now. What has happened is that my laptop hasn’t been use in a long time. I go to sign in and I put the password right and it says that a password was put in wrong too many times. I reset my password and signed in on my phone and my phone worked. The new password didn’t work and now I don’t know what to do.

Wrong Password

The "Old Password" is the password to your local account. It is about to change your local account to a Microsoft Account. If you don't mind this, then enter your local account password. If you think this is overly intrusive of Microsoft, don't do it and let Cortana die.

 

Long boot time and passwords missing

The only reason I mention the account is that a Windows update recently was causing people to be signed into a temporary account, your password manager may be installed for all users but the list of passwords would be user specific, therefore the blank password list suggests a different account. *Smile

 

Lost My Administrator Password

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
