Windows 10: My C: Drive does not appear in Explorer - Windows 10

1, I have two user accounts but don't seem to be able to switch between them. I bypassed signing-in.


2. Yes it does.

Also, this is not how it comes up straight away. I got there by fiddling around, but I just wanted to demonstrate that Explorer is aware of HDD (C: ) and all its sub-folders. The computer works OK, it's just inconvenient that HDD (C: ) does not appear in the left pane. I'm thinking of doing a System Restore, although I will lose a few things, and I couldn't be sure that it would fix the issue. All this nonsense has happened after Fall Creators Update, a real disaster IMHO.

Run the beta log collector and post a zip into this thread:
(use extract > open)
log collector v2-beta08.zip
If the beta log collector does not work then use the DM log collector:

The beta log collector is preferred as it collects more information for troubleshooting.

 

Found it. I use an app called Winaero Tweaker that is very useful. However somehow I had unintentionally set the C: drive not to show in Explorer. And guess what, C: drive didn't show in Explorer!

It was NOT a waste of time. Your experience is a valuable lesson and will benefit other readers: When tweaking be careful what you ask for, you may not get exactly what you expect.

Personally, I avoid using tweakers. Often symptoms such as yours are down to a tweak or a registry hack that comes back to bite you further down the line *Sad

 

You're probably right, but Winaero Tweaker does some really neat things. And it didn't mess anything up until this episode, which was just carelessness on my part. Check it out!

I upgraded from 7 to 10 in August 2015 and have had every version upgrade since then go smoothly and trouble-free. A large part of that I put down to resisting the urge to tweak.
