  2. A child leaves family group himself

    Hi

I'm trying to setup family safety to protect a child from an adult content and limit time spent with PC.

I've created family group and invited child's account to the family. Then applied permissions.

Child left the family group and disabled parental control. How to prevent that?

    Family Group setup for child

    Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I do (parent) have a Microsoft account and I am wanting to create a child account in the family group setup. When I specify to create an account for a child, I select the option to "use your email instread." Which I interpret as
MY (parent) email address. When I enter my email address, I get the error, "is already a Microsoft account. Please try a different email address." My child DOES not have an email address nor do I want him
to have an email address in order to setup a microsoft account and link it to a family group. He is only 5 years old. Is there anyway to establish a microsoft account for a child?

    Microsoft Family Screen Time

    Hi Laurel,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

This could happen when the child account fails to sync with the server. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

    • Open
      File Explorer
and navigate to the following location:
    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls

      Note:
The above mentioned directory is hidden, copy and paste the same location on the search bar in the File Explorer to access it.
    • Delete the contents in the
      \\settings
directory of the Parental Controls folder.
    • Reboot the machine to see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, you may want to remove the child account from Microsoft family and add it again.

    • To know how to remove an account from Microsoft Family, refer:

Remove members from your family group
    • To know how to add an account to Microsoft Family, refer:

Add members to your family group

    Regards,
