My default printer is not allowing me to print a document. As far as I know I have the latest Microsoft updates.

Printing sent to non-default printer

Hi,
I'm running a win10 Pro system. When I try to print a file, the default printer is shown. Though, the document isn't sent to my default print (Brother MFC-430W Printer). Instead it shows up as a piece waiting in the queue of Foxit Editor PDF Printer (which shows in my Device and Printers list, or in MS PDFCreator, which doesn't show on this list.
How do I bring my default printer back to the fore?

Addendum: This problem shows while I try to print an Office document or when I print from my browser. Strangely, when I type to my Bullzip PDF printer, I manage to print the file from my Adobe Acrobat DC program.

 

Win 10 changes printer settings if not a default printer

I understand this. My question was a work around that. If you are printing multiple documents and having to go in between label printer and regular printer, setting the printer default manually is an extra step that will not suffice due to it's inefficiency.
Other suggestion?

Thanks for your suggestion.

The printer is a Canon TR7550 and has performed flawlessly until quit recently. I fist noticed the problem about four weeks ago.

This sounds similar to what I've already tried but there are a couple of steps that I didn't take.

I#ve reinstteled the MP drivers as suggested elsewhere. I'm still waiting for the printer to fail again (I'm fairly sure it will) before following the steps you have suggested. I'll let you know what happens.

So far the computer has been rebooted an the printer switched on an off several times over a few days and it is still printing correctly. I'm trying to watch what is happening to see if IO can identify anything that might be causing it. At the moment the
printer default is set to the Canon so Windows isn't managing the printer.
