My Desktop Windows Manager is gradually taking up more and more RAM.

After updating my Windows 10 with the latest update, my DWM is constantly taking up more and more Memory. It's gotten to the point where it took up 96% of my RAM just because I left my laptop open.

I have a Lenovo IPS 3, with an i5-10210U CPU, and a NVIDIA GeForce MX 130, and an 8 GB RAM. Every time I would start up the computer, the DWM would start from 45 - 50 and will keep increasing with no limits. I dealt with this problem by restarting the pc, but I really want to know a permanent solution for this.

I tried running sfc and dism, but that did not fix anything. I think this is because of the latest win10 update, because I have not experienced this sort of problem before updating.

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Windows explorer taking almost all RAM

This worked temporary for me. After a system restart, it was taking lots of RAM like before.

Had to do the steps again

I had the same problem on Windows 10 with 8GB RAM, and restarting Explorer didn't work for me. The following may work:

    • Open Task Manager
    • On the Details tab, find explorer.exe
    • Right-click on it and choose End process tree
    • Confirm End process tree

Some windows might close; the task bar also disappears.

    • Now in Task Manager's File menu, click on Run new task.
    • Type explorer.exe in the bar. Click OK.

Page Table takes too much RAM.

    Hi,

High RAM usage can be caused by various factors like a malware infection and corrupted device drivers. The first step in fixing Windows 10 high memory leakage would be performing a full scan. You may install an anti-malware tool like MalwareBytes and perform
a scan. If the issue persists, we suggest that you adjust the page file size or virtual memory in Windows 10. Adjusting the page file size is known for regulating the disk usage and it dramatically improves Windows 10 performance for machines that are using
    SSD type of hard drive.

    Here's how:

    • In the search box, type Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows and press
      Enter.
    • Go to Advanced tab and click Change... button in the
      Virtual memory section.
    • At the top, uncheck the box right next to the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives option.
    • Select drive C: (or the drive where Windows 10 is installed).
    • Select Custom size: by ticking its radio button, and change the
Initial size (MB) and Maximum size (MB) to the
      Recommended
value that you will find just below the Total paging file size for all drivers section.

This method will help improve the system performance of Windows 10, and will gradually decrease the freeze issues.

Let us know how it goes.
