External devices not connecting properly via USB 3.0 port

Thank you for the suggestions.

I have a similar issue on my Lenovo laptop. The USB 3.0 port was working normally on Windows 8.1. After I upgraded to Windows 10 my external devices cannot connect properly via the USB 3.0 port (they get connected and disconnected all the time).

Can I apply the hotfix from KB2830154 on Windows 10? Can I try to modify the registry manually according to the instructions in the same article?

Is there available any other hotfix particularly for Windows 10?

• Have you tried connecting the external device to another port or different computer?
• Have you tried connecting a different external device to the port?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
