    My finger print reader is inoperative on my Thinkpad T470 laptop.


    My finger print reader is inoperative on my Thinkpad T470 laptop. This is not the first time it has gone inoperative. I have checked the drivers, which shows I have the latest. I also ran a DISM.exe health scan and sfc /scannow, no errors reported on either scan. Why the re-occuring issue?

    I have Lenovo ThinkPad X220 It has a finger print reader.

    the finger print reader does not work in windows 10.

    Do i go after LENOVO for up to date driver or do i wait for windows to catch-up?

    It's the device manufacturers responsibility to provide compatible drivers for a new operating system.

    They also have the choice of not supporting a newer OS for their devices.

    Microsoft does provide support for third party manufacturers to develop the necessary drivers.
