Windows 10: My friend is getting the device connected/disconnected noise along with the "The last usb...

We've tried disconnecting reconnecting all usb devices to see if the sound would stop but no luck.

We also tried all tips on this site https://www.partitionwizard.com/disk-recovery/the-last-usb-device-malfunctioned-windows-10.html

He was in the middle of class when it happened, says that nothing out of the ordinary occurred before.

Is it also possible it could something other then usb devices

sometimes, I get the noise that something disconnected (like with usb devices), and after a while (after 2 disconnect sounds) it stops, but happens again when I restart my computer

all I wish to know is, is there a tool I can use that tracks whatever disconnects in the way of usb devices that I can't seem to see visually

Did you try installing all the latest drivers from the computer manufacturer's website?

I would like to inform you that this issue you are facing might be due to Sound settings on your computer. So I would suggest you to follow below steps to make changes in Sound Settings.

• 
  Right Click on Desktop screen and choose Personalize.
  
• 
  From the bottom panel click on Sounds.
  
• 
  Under Program Events, look for Device Connect, Disconnect and Failed to Connect.
  
• 
  Choose one option at a time and from the sounds option choose none.
  

This process will disable sounds for the 3 program events and sound will not play if you are in normal state or sleep mode.

say i want to connect and disconnect something like an external hard drive on a usb cable. which cable to i splice in a switch? 5v line?
