Windows 10: My laptop want stay on after I unplug the charger... Why?

My hp notebook Windows 10 has been sitting for awhile so I've not got on it to do anything lately so when I brought it out and plugged it into the charger it's automatically saying 100 % well I know that there's no way it can be... So I decide to unplug the charger it turns off right then and there... What do you think the problem could be? How do I fix it? Thanks.

Laptop freezes when charger unpluged

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I belive the problem started after the last update. I usually leave my laptop connected to the charger and rarely unplug it, when I did it carried on as normal. But now the screen blackens but the 'power', 'wifi' lights stay on and the 'hard drive' light
flickers, but that's it. There has been no change to any power settings, and, on checking the power plan is set at 'balanced'. When the laptop is unplugged I can restart it on battery power and it works fine, although the icons are reset at default.

Laptop won't charge after unplugging, charger is fine.

Windows 10 HOME - 19041.450

Laptop : HP 250 G5 W4M71EA
BIOS VER F.45
BIOS VENDOR Insyde

Charger works fine.
Indicators show white light when turned on and orange when turned off and battery is plugged in.

Resetting BIOS settings to default makes the charger work fine until I plug it out.
After unplugging and plugging it back in it does not charge.

What can be the cause?

When closing and opening the lid laptop is detecting the charger properly but upon re plugging it's not working again.
The issue is that the laptop doesn't detect it's being charged while being turned on.

 

Is it Wise to unplug Laptops Charger cable when not using that system?

Laptop question

is it adviseable to unplug the laptop charger each time i'm done using it? or leave it plugged in, not sure which is best for the battery and which isn't good to do
