Windows 10: My Microphone Array won't pick up my voice

My model is: G512LIMy computer can pick up sound fine through my headphones, but it won't pick up my voice without headphones just through the computer and it used to. I am not sure why it does not anymore. I have tried troubleshooting, updating drivers, and it says there are no problems. But there clearly is. Discord, Microsoft teams, etc. won't pick up my voice on the microphone. I have tried googling it but I am confused exactly what to do as a lot of microphone issues are assumed to be related to headphones. This computer is not even two years old, so I know that is not an issue. Please ca

Microphone not picking up speech, both with microphone array and earphones

Hi,

I have a HP Envy, running on Windows 10, with an inbuilt Intel Smart Sound Technology mic array. My microphone cut out towards the end of a Zoom call, and now refuses to pick up input when I am talking. The microphone volume is set at 100%, and the troubleshooter
reports no problems.

Weirdly, when I test the microphone, if I click my fingers next to it then the bar shoots up, detecting the sound. When I speak however, even right next to the mic, the bar barely flickers. The drivers are fully updated, as is my version of Windows 10. The
mic was working fine until the middle of this call, and I am not sure how to fix it.

Even more weirdly, I have exactly the same problem when I connect my bluetooth earphones. I can hear sound with no problems, but the mic is not picking up my voice.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

• Do you get any error message or error code on the screen?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have performed to resolve the issue?

As of now I suggest you t follow the methods below and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: I suggest you to run and check hardware device troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the step:

• Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel.
• Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel.
• Click on Hardware and sound under Troubleshoot computer problems.
• Click on Hardware and devices under Devices.
• Click on Advanced on the Hardware and devices dialog box and click on Run as administrator. (Enter credentials if prompted)
• Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Method 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled and is set as default.

Make sure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

a) Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.

b) Now, right click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.

c) Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the microphone is enabled.

d) You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

Method 3: If the issue still persists, then let’s try installing the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps. Please follow the steps given below.

To install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• 
  Right click on the setup file of the driver and select
  Properties
  
• 
  Select Compatibility Tab
  
• 
  Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list
  
• 
  Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.

Microphone Array missing, Microphone doesnot work

1. The computer is a H-P IQ 524 Touchsmart All-In-One 22inch display

2. All updates installed.

3. Went to the above suggested web page. Have been there.

4. Any suggestion as to enabling the microphone array; Speaker Icon > (Right Click) > Select (Recording Device) >opens window titled “Sound” > Select (Recording). Microphone Array not showing.
